Come check out our rehearsals!

Every Thursday evening from 7:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. at the Badhoevedorp Community Center

Meet SU!

If you love to sing and can hold a tune, come meet SU! You don’t need to be able to read music or have a trained singing voice. All you need is to enjoy singing with others and be able to stick to your own part. You don’t even need any experience, just a willingness to learn new things, such as breathing techniques, singing, and performance skills.

To help you learn the songs, we’ll provide you with MP3 files of our current repertoire along with the sheet music. Sing along in the car on your way to work or while you’re vacuuming, and you’ll learn the music in no time!

Come by for a rehearsal to see what we do:
Thursday evenings from 7:45 to 10:15 p.m. at the Badhoevedorp Community Center

How do I become a member?

Have you attended one of our rehearsals and would you like to join? If so, you’ll take a short vocal test so we can place you in one of the four vocal parts based on your range: bass, baritone, lead, or tenor.

More about the vocal sections

Our music is based on four-part harmonies sung a cappella (without musical accompaniment).
  • Leads sing the melody.
  • Basses have lower voices — they form the foundation of the chord.
  • Baritones sing a harmony part, above the basses and usually below the lead.
  • Tenors the bell-like notes at the top of the harmony, for higher voices.

You will then attend several rehearsals and learn one audition piece both at home and during rehearsals. One of our members, your “buddy,” will support you throughout this entire process. Within six weeks, you will perform this piece as part of a quartet alongside three experienced members.

The requirement is that you can sing your part flawlessly, in tune, and with good vocal technique and energy. Did you pass your audition? If so, we warmly welcome you as a member of Singing Unlimited!

You’ll continue to develop your vocal and performance skills during rehearsals, coaching weekends, and a variety of local and national performances and events. Coaches from both the Netherlands and abroad help us keep improving. Our director and the members of our music staff are also there to assist you whenever needed.

Part of Sweet Adelines International

Singing Unlimited is a member of Sweet Adelines International (SAI) and is part of Region 31, the Quartet of Nations. Every year, usually in May, the choirs from our region compete against each other in the regional SAI competition. We all fly to England for this and enjoy a fantastic convention weekend there.

Be warned: singing in an a cappella choir is highly addictive!
